BREAKthrough in Pittsburgh!

Tue, Jun 19th 2007, 16:48

Bruce Kraus will become the first openly gay elected official in the city of Pittsburgh after winning the Democratic primary to represent District 3 on the city council.

Kraus overcame some vicious, last-minute anti-gay smears to unseat the incumbent.  He was attacked by opponents for accepting donations from the Victory Fund, but Bruce's hard work and connection to his community trumped those desparation tactics.

This is a major victory for the LGBT community in Pittsburgh.  Now they have a voice in city government, and the people of District 3 have a committed leader.
