Frank, Baldwin speak up for gay Iraqis

In a letter to Secretary of State, Condoleeza Rice, the two openly gay members of Congress urged the administration to take action to protect the LGBT citizens in Iraq.  According to a report issued by UNAMI [United National Assistance Mission for Iraq], LGBT Iraqis have become a target for violence (often ending in death), despite language of the 2005 Iraqi constitution, stating that 'every individual has the right to enjoy life, security and liberty.'  As the only two openly LGBT members of congress, Frank and Baldwin are continuing to demonstrate the positive influence that openly gay leaders can have, not only on our communities locally, but also in a much broader context.
