Out Oregon Rep. asks colleagues to support gay rights

Oregon Rep. Tina Kotek, the legislature’s only openly gay member, testified alongside her partner yesterday as the State House took up a Senate-passed measure that would ban discrimination based on sexual orientation.  The House is also considering a bill to establish civil unions for same-sex couples.  "Tina and I are family. We may not look exactly like your family, but we are family nevertheless," said Aimee Wilson, Kotek’s partner.
